Aperitivo hours made decadent by The Beast of Dufftown; the evening sun twisted into dark invitation. Mortlach channels a new dimension of dusk in this bold expression. Finished in casks that formerly held alluringly sweet Ramandolo white wine, and earthy Sangiovese red, this Single Malt Scotch Whisky holds a bewitching tint in the light. Layered crisp fruit, caramelised miso and a hint of cured prosciutto notes emerge for an audaciously umami and fruity flavour. Palate: At natural strength, the texture is smooth and creamy, and the taste is lightly sweet and fruity, then it becomes sharper with spicy, peppery & drying tannins.
Nose: Surprisingly mild and gentle in feel, with some prickle, yet dry overall and deeply exotic.
Finish: Medium to long, finishing dry, tongue-tingling and warmly spicy with some fruity acidity and a pinch of white pepper.
