Limerick Lane Description
Limerick Lane is a thirty-acre estate located in the far northeastern corner of the Russian River appellation of Sonoma County, just south of the town of Healdsburg. First planted to grapes in 1910, the original plantings are still in production today. In many ways a sub-appellation unto itself, Limerick Lane’s southern and western exposure, clay and rock soils, and greater than average diurnal shift create a singular environment that allows us to grow grapes and make wines on par with the finest in the world.
Our Estate Zinfandel is our flagship wine. Originally planted by Italian immigrants at the start of the 1900’s, this wine hearkens back, in some ways, to a different time. While seamless and with an unparalleled clarity of flavor and aromas, there is also an undeniable gravity that Limerick Lane Zinfandel seems to exude. It may be nothing more than a romantic appreciation for the hands that have tended these vines for over a century. It’s possible that it is a result of the other varieties, now all but extinct, save for a few old Zinfandel vineyards like Peloursin, Negrette, and Petite Sirah, that add more structure, color, and acid than normally found in Zinfandel. Maybe the rocks, the dirt, the morning fog and the afternoon sun come together in this place a little differently than anywhere else. It may even be all of these special characteristics combined, but the Zinfandel grown at the end of this little lane is undeniably special, undeniably unique, and undeniably “Limerick Lane.”

Vinous Media: 95 Points
The 2016 Estate Zinfandel shows the more powerful, muscular side of the estate. Rich, pliant and creamy, the Estate hits all the right notes. Bright red cherry, plum, rose petal, mint and licorice build into the succulent, racy finish.

Refined yet plump, with personality, offering a complex core of lively tannins and acidity wrapped in a rich cloak of ripe raspberry, sassafras and smoky cracked pepper flavors. Drink now through 2027.
