Chateau Latour Martillac Description
Just bottled, the wine has some intense aromas of fresh fruit, citrus, white peach and exotic fruits. The sweet attack grows with a tasty and velvety vividness, and no heaviness. Its balanced and complex structure guaranties the 2005 white a promising future.
Wine Spectator: 92 Points
Very subtle aromas of Brazilian lime, lemon and slate. Full-bodied, with intense fruit and acidity and a long aftertaste of mineral, green apple, melon and honey. Very lively and intense. Extremely well done for this estate. Best after 2010.
Wine Advocate: 89 Points
Tasted blind at the 2005 Southwold tasting, the 2005 LaTour Martillac Blanc is slightly deeper in color than its peers. It offers caramelized pear and beeswax on the nose, just a touch of VA and a mature Mosel Riesling, diesel-like note. The palate is well balanced with a waxy opening, hints of orange rind and clove, although the finish dips too early. This remains interesting to drink.

Bright yellow. Lemon drop and spicy vanillin oak on the nose. A sweet, supple fruit bomb in the mouth, with pineapple, lemon, spice and honey flavors. Finishes dry but rich, with lovely lingering fruit. -- Stephen Tanzer
