Pepperwood Grove

Pepperwood Grove began almost 10 years ago as a venture between two brothers-in-law. Having neither the capital, nor desire, to start an estate winery, our goal was to produce a better, affordable bottle of wine (we do have a modest winery in the Napa Valley). In creating Pepperwood Grove, it became clear that not owning vineyards, but being negociants, was a distinct advantage. Since we are not tied to any single vineyard, we can choose from a wider variety of microclimates. It was also clear that many were not aware of the role of the negociant in the wine business. In its simplest form, a negociant is someone who takes the grapes, juice or wine from a grower and creates his own blend. Why does that matter? Since we don’t own vineyards (which can be limiting) or an elaborate facility to pay for and maintain, we can spend our time looking in different regions for the best grapes and juice available. And since our winery is modest (sorry, no fancy visitor center) you don't pay for the overhead. As negociants, we can’t hang our hat on anything other than crafting wines that offer clear value – our goal is to make it very difficult for you to find a better value.
