Oxford Landing isn't some invented name on a wine label. It's a real place, a real vineyard, that lies alongside the River Murray near the South Australian river town of Waikerie. Wyndham Hill Smith found this place in 1958. He saw the clear blue skies above the site and felt the gentle warmth of the sun. He held the rich, free-draining soil and knew this would be a wonderful place for growing grapes. Yalumba purchased the block naming it Oxford Landing after a nearby site where drovers once grazed and watered sheep on the long journey to Adelaide from northern pastoral properties. Planting began almost immediately and Oxford Landing became the first major vineyard development in the area. Today, the Estate has matured into one of Australia's most innovative viticultural enterprises delivering varietal flavour that accurately reflects the unique vineyard terroir.
Bright plum with magenta hues, it has lifted forest berry fruits with hints of liquorice and spice.
