Dalton

Located just two miles from the Lebanon border in the rolling hills of Israel's Upper Galilee, the Dalton vineyards grow at an altitude of 800 to 900 meters above sea level on a volcanic plateau. Cold winters, hot summer days and cool nights along with a sheltered micro climate (comparable to the Golan Heights to the east) make for great grapes. Dalton is situated about 10 miles north of Tzfat (Safed) and a few miles to the west of the Galilee "panhandle." From the visitor's center (visitors are encouraged and welcome) one can see Mount Hermon and much of southern Lebanon. Also clearly visible about a half mile away is the tomb of Rabbi Yosi HaGlili (Jose the Galilean), the famous Talmudic sage who is often quoted in the Passover Haggadah. Tombs of other famous Talmudic sages are also located nearby. Nearly all Dalton wines are estate grown and estate bottled, traveling very short distances from the vines to the winery. Dalton's wine making team is headed up by the Australian "flying winemaker" John Worontschak and Dr. Arkadi Papikian, formerly of Moldova. Limited production on all types, most non-Mevushal. Dalton is Israel's hottest boutique winery -- the next great wines from the Holy Land. Visit the Dalton website.
