Veuve Clicquot

Named for founder Madame Clicquot, this prestige cuvee continues her practice of producing, in the finest years, a special wine for the exclusive enjoyment of her family and friends. Produced in extremely limited quantities from the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards Madame Clicquot purchased in the early 1800s. A supremely elegant vintage Champagne.

Wine Advocate

I highly recommend the Veuve Clicquot 1990 La Grande Dame. It is exquisitely rich and accessible, yet bursting with potential.

Score: 95. —Robert Parker, October 1998.

Wine Spectator

Striking in flavor and profile. A graceful, well-toned rosé, full of berry, autumn leaves and spice notes enmeshed in a rich texture, all supported by lively acidity. Stylish and beginning to mellow, with a long aftertaste of berry confit. Drink now through 2006.

Score: 93. —Bruce Sanderson, November 30, 2002.

Wine Enthusiast

Tight and straightforward, but quite complex. Licorice and lime grace the linear palate. A lot of intense but soft fruit in the mouth. An immensely clear, forward and stately Champagne. One of those “big name” status bubblies that does what it takes to deserve its praise.

Score: 92. —Michael Schachner, December 01, 1999.
