Wines from Spain
Still great values in spite of the weak dollar
We've been tasting quite a few new Spanish wines recently, and have come to the conclusion that Spanish wineries are still capable of producing many great wines and great values. On top of this, there have been a string of excellent vintages since 2002, including the most prevalent vintages now on the market, 2004-2006. (The top wines are much in demand internationally, and some are now only available in stringently allocated quantities.) We have found a lot of excellent wines that literally have no quality/value competition from anywhere, at prices that start well under $10. These will be great 'house wine' choices, but don't ignore the wines that are somewhat more expensive, as the ones we've selected are well worth their prices.
