Mas de Gourgonnier Les Baux de Provence Rosé 2007
This wine has become a favorite of many Mid Valley customers who buy it without realizing that the producers grow the grapes organically. It is made by the producers of the red 'Mas de Gourgonnier'. The rosé is made with about 60% Grenache, with the balance split between Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, and Cabernet Sauvignon, all grown with organic farming methods on the winery's estate in Baux de Provence, near the mouth of the Rhone River in southern France. Baux is a high-elevation site that has the arid and windy climate conditions that favor the practice of not using synthetic pesticides. The winery opts also to use no chemical fertilizers because the soil responds favorably to this practice. This wine is dry and goes with almost any food, but is especially at home with grilled fish, gumbos, bouillabaisse, Indian foods, and many spring and summer salads. |
